Washington State University-Jefferson County Extension has been selected from a field of three agencies to lead Jefferson County's economic development efforts for the next two years.County Administrator John Fischbach said he, Department of Community Development Director Al Scalf and former planner Brent Butler interviewed WSU, Diversified Resources and the revamped Economic Development Council and unanimously concluded WSU was best suited to meet the county's needs.

Diversified's contract expired last month. The county severed ties with the EDC a few years ago. County commissioners opened the contract to others.
