Washington State University-Jefferson County Extension has been selected from a field of three agencies to lead Jefferson County's economic development efforts for the next two years.

County Administrator John Fischbach said he, Department of Community Development Director Al Scalf and former planner Brent Butler interviewed WSU, Diversified Resources and the revamped Economic Development Council and unanimously concluded WSU was best suited to meet the county's needs.

"I was excited when WSU stepped forward. They have put together a very competent team and we were very impressed with what they proposed," Fischbach said.

County commissioners unanimously agreed.

Katherine Baril
Director, WSU Jefferson County, coordinates business training and coaching programs, focuses on the 18-25 year old and energizing entrepreneurship. She is a NxLevel business instructor as well as coordinator for the local WSU Extension community education program. Bill Wise
is a retired private sector business executive who has done extensive business coaching and top corporate mentoring, mergers and management. Craig Wier
worked with San Juan County EDC on economic assessments and cluster reports. Wier also co-founded two software companies and is a former university professor.
Aletia Alvarez
former executive director of the Wooden Boat Foundation. She also was the ED of the Sustainable Methow Economic Development group in Okanogan County. and now manages her own organizational effectiveness consulting firm specializing in non-governmental groups. Danille A. Turissiniis a pubic relations specialist and consultant who has worked with public policy leadership programs and done extensive public relations and marketing work with EDCsBriar Kolp
is a business executive and general manager at The Food Co-op in Port Townsend. She has extensive background in retail management, marketing and human resources.Marty Gay
a private business executive and former EDC director, board and staff member.
